The Dangers of Being Homeless: By Stephanie Diaz

Being a homeless person makes you face many dangers. Homeless people have a lot to go through such as worrying about where you are going to sleep for the night, what you are going to eat for the day, if you are going to be dressed, and most important will you make it to the next day. Homeless people are not the ones to be judged because they go through a lot, and no one ever knows exactly what happened to them in order for them to be in this position. We should all pray for the homeless people everyday for them to get by and start a new and better life. I pray that no one I know and myself will ever be in this position because it is not one to be happy of. Many people are homeless because they lost jobs, families, natural desasters etc. It is our job to make sure they are alright, maybe donate food and clothing. Anything that will help a homeless person have a better day, and encouraging them to look for a job or something that will help them succeed in life.

  1. If anyone believes that there are no dangers when you are homeless, then they care completely mistaken. Homeless people are faced with numerous dangers everyday of their lives. They do not have people to protect them. They do not have a safe place like a home, to go to every single night. They are out in the streets all day and all night, not knowing what other people's intentions are. There are people who want to hurt the homeless just because they believe that they are simply lazy people who do not want to look for jobs. Homeless do not have anyone watching their backs. It's is almost like survival of the fittest. Only the strong survive. Homeless people have to be aware of their surroundings at all times. There are homeless people who attack other homeless people for a piece of bread. When you are homeless, you usually look out for yourself and do not worry about others. Another danger of being homeless is having to deal with weather changes. During the winter, some people cannot even find a jacket to stay warm in. They get sick and have no way of getting any type of medicine. Being homeless is very dangerous.

  2. Just like what Roy said, being homeless is like the survival of the fittest. The homeless have to deal with constant worries. How will they get through the day is their number one issue that runs through their head. Besides for the homeless, no one truly knows the danger of being homeless. How would you feel worrying about everyday where you would sleep, what would you eat, etc. It constant struggles that the homeless have to go through. Another danger the homeless have to face is the vicious society. There are some cruel people out there that torture the homeless. Surviving mother nature is another key issue that the homeless have to face. The brutal winters, the rainy days, and the hot summers. They have nothing to support them during these seasons. I am so appreciative of what I have today because I think I'll go crazy if I were to become homeless.

  3. Everyone in the world has problems and goes through a lot, but when you think about the struggles homeless people go through our problems seem insignificant. We all know for sure that we have a warm home waiting for us after work or school where we can go no matter what time of the day and be safe. Homeless people on the other hand do not have that luxury. They go from place to place in order to survive in search of food, clothing, and a warm place to sleep. Things we take for granted for example a warm shower and a bed are things homeless people would kill to have. They sometimes are forced to commit crimes in order to survive. In reality most homeless people would rather be in jail then in the streets because even though they are serving time they do not need to search for food or a place to sleep.

  4. All of you are right about the dangers of being homeless. I especially agree with you Brittany. No one takes into consideration all of the abuse that homeless people have to deal with on a day to day basis. People just love to mess around with them. They steal their stuff and physically assault them. I just don’t understand what kind of satisfaction someone can get from beating up a homeless person. It is unfortunate to say this but people feel that anybody living on the streets is basically non-existent. God didn’t put us on this Earth so that we can abuse our brothers and sister. We are expected to help one another in times of need. I can’t imagine, like you said Perla, not being able to go home to a stable house, not having a family, not having food. The life of a homeless person is not understandable until you are actually in their position. We should all just thank God for blessing us with families and food and shelter because no one will know what tomorrow brings.
