One of the most important tragedies that occurs in our country that is often looked over is homelessness. Homelessness is something that constantly occurs to people just like us even though it feels as if we are so detached from that world. People are sometimes led to homelessness because of addictions,people by offering financial programs or by creating shelters but the rate of homelessness is so high that there are still people in this situation. Whether it be drugs or gambling, or sometimes even financial mishaps that aren't even the person's fault. Many people have created different ways for helping the homeless whether it be shelters, and soup kitchens. I'm sure the homeless are very happy when these organizations do these things. It is perfect for them because they feel as if someone finally loves and cares for them. Homelessness is something going on all around the world and many are trying to help them. You can go anywhere around the world and you will see all types of people dealing with these kinds of issues everyday of their lives. The most we can do is pray for them and hope that this situation gets fixed before it gets worse and worse and spreads throughout the world.

Stephanie is right, there are many homeless people in every single part of the world. Everywhere you go you should not be surprised to come across a homeless person. Like she said, homeless people want to feel love and wanted. They want to feel like they are a part of society. If a homeless person feels like someone cares about them, then maybe that will give them some type of inspiration to change their lives. Stephanie said that the most we can do is pray for the homeless and hope that the situation gets fixed. Prayer and hope will only get you so far. We need to actually go out in the world and help people. We have so much time to do other things but we can never make time to help those who are in need of help. I admit it, I personally lose sight of reality. This is because I have a lot of people who care about me. There are a lot of things that I can do to help, even if I'm only helping one person.
ReplyDeleteI think praying is the best solution for certain situations. Like Stephanie said, many people are homeless because of drug addictions that have lead them into losing everything. Sometimes when people go around asking for money they usually are trying to get money to buy their next fix. There is no way to ever know what intentions a homeless person has when they are asking for money but there are also other things that can be done instead of giving money. For example, if they are begging in front of a restaurant of some sort the best thing you can do is actually buy them something to eat. That way you know for sure that your money is not going towards drugs or any other bad habit they might have. This prevents them from buying alcohol, drugs or even worse weapons. It is hard to be homeless and sometimes your anger and depression can get the best of you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Perla one hundred percent. Sometimes people don't like to give the homeless money because they feel they will use that money to buy drugs and then their money will go to waste. Instead of giving them money we can give them food, a type of clothing such as a jacket for the winter, or anything at all because I'm pretty sure they will be so gracious with anything they get. I feel like the society to take a more active role in changing the homeless status. Building more shelters for them providing more opportunities to bring them back on their feet. I'm sure we can put a stop to people becoming homeless. It just takes one person to make a difference in society. I want other people to think what it would be like to be homeless. I don't wish that upon anyone. That is why we need a few people out their to make a difference and put an end to being homeless. God created this beautiful world and their shouldn't be people out there suffering.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Perla. People are hesitant to give homeless people money because they are unsure of what the homeless person is going to use the money for. If you want to help them you can donate clothing or buy them food. You can even take them out to a diner if you want to talk to them. I personally am curious as to how some people ended up on the streets. Everyone has a different story that needs to be heard. We need to help the homeless enter shelters. Some are reluctant because they are scared of shelters. They rather live on the streets for some reason. Brittany you’re right. Some people don’t realize what it’s like to be homeless. If everyone just put themselves in a homeless person’s shoes for one day I’m certain everyone’s perspectives on homeless people would change. Prayer can take us far but how far? God does things for a reason. Maybe he wants these people to be homeless we’ll never know.
